19 of Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hardcourt

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The Russian, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and finally separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually advanced in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after March of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has achieved twenty-one victories at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I am participating in a event with my children together, so to secure a championship is particularly special," said tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and frequent outbursts on court had led some to doubt if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

However the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an improved service.

Medvedev recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging Frenchman, securing four of the final five points to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped service breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his initial tour victory, took control to push for a third set.

Moutet defended four initial break points in a competitive deciding set before Medvedev secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with the Frenchman incapable to control a volley after a lengthy match.
